The couple dated for about four years, before announcing their engagement in April 2022. Following the tragic news, Volker took to social media to talk to his fans and thank them for their support.

In a clip he said: “Hi, everyone. I wanted to just post a picture of Charlbi, but it's a bit hard. 'I just wanted to let you know I see all your messages, all the love, and I appreciate it. I really do.”
