Diana's tell-all interview
In November 1995, Princess Diana gave a candid interview to the BBC's Panorama, offering an explosive insight into her marriage to then Prince Charles and the pressures of life within the royal family. The interview with journalist Martin Bashir attracted more than 23 million viewers in the UK and made headlines around the world.
The interview later became the subject of controversy after a 2021 independent inquiry found that Bashir had used deceitful methods, including forged bank statements, to secure Diana's participation. The BBC apologised and subsequently pledged never to broadcast the interview again in full or license it to other broadcasters.
