Hey you guys! The treasure hunt isn’t over yet!

In The Goonies, a group of misfit kids from Astoria, Oregon, embark on a perilous quest to find the long-lost treasure of pirate One-Eyed Willy, aiming to save their homes from foreclosure.

Directed by Richard Donner and based on a story by Steven Spielberg, the movie features Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Ke Huy Quan, and Martha Plimpton.

After decades of speculation, a Goonies sequel was officially announced by Warner Bros. in January 2025, with original writer Chris Columbus and producer Steven Spielberg set to return.

Ke Huy Quan - who played Data - previously shared an optimistic update.

He said: “Well, fingers crossed. We have an incredible writer writing the script. Chris Columbus, Spielberg, obviously, same creative team.

Except we've been developing for a long time. I want to be optimistic this time around. Hopefully, it will happen soon.”

Potsy Ponciroli has been hired to write the script but there is no filming news yet.
