The British actor, whose credits include Heartstopper and SAS: Rogue Heroes, has emerged as a surprise contender to take over as 007.

Page Six reported recently that Barton, who only started acting professionally in 2020, was under consideration as Bond bosses prepare to screen test contenders to play the spy.

Barton, 31, as 007 would fit former James Bond casting director Debbie McWilliams' insistence that the spy should be an "enigma".
