Lord of Darkness – Legend (1985)
Buried under massive, heavy prosthetics, Curry still managed to project an overwhelming, seductive presence as Ridley Scott's Lord of Darkness, completely stealing the spotlight from a young Tom Cruise. It took a grueling five and a half hours each day just to apply Curry’s elaborate makeup, and he had to sit in a pool of water at the end of the day to dissolve the spirit gum. While the dark fantasy film divided critics and struggled to make back its $24 million budget during its initial run, its visual effects and makeup were heavily praised, earning an Academy Award nomination. Over the years, the film became a massive success on home video, with Curry's design universally recognized as a masterpiece.
