Shelley Duvall

The Shining star stepped away from acting in 2002 as a result of roles drying up and her brother's cancer diagnosis.

Duvall would make a return to acting in the 2023 film The Forest Hills, which proved to be her final role before her death at the age of 75 the following year.

She told People of her lengthy hiatus: "It's the longest sabbatical I ever took but it was for really important reasons – to get in touch with my family again."
