Sir Sean Connery

The Scottish star is best-known for being the first actor to portray James Bond in the 007 film franchise during the 1960s and 1970s but made the decision to quit Hollywood several decades later.

Connery – who died aged 90 in 2020 – called time on his acting career after a troubled experience making the 2003 movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

The Untouchables actor declared that he was "fed up with the idiots" and bemoaned the "ever-widening gap between people who know how to make movies and the people who greenlight the movies".
