Christian Bale

On the surface, Christian Bale may seem an ideal choice to play James Bond.

Producers thought so too, and he was on their minds before being cast as Bruce Wayne's alter ego in Batman Begins.

However, Bale didn't agree, telling Details Magazine that the character represented "every despicable stereotype about England and British actors".

He went further, comparing Bond to his American Psycho character Patrick Bateman as he quipped: "I already played a serial killer."
