Back in 1967, Sir Michael Caine was rumoured to have been offered the job.

However, the big screen legend later revealed he turned down the part because he didn't think the character was grounded enough in reality for him to portray.

He explained: “I was always very much more ordinary. Bond was a glamorous, imaginative creation. I’ve always played real people.”
