Travis Scott
In one of the most tragic live music events in modern history, rapper Travis Scott's headline performance at his own Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas, on November 5, 2021, resulted in a fatal crowd crush. As Scott took the stage at NRG Park, an over-capacity crowd of 50,000 compressed violently toward the front, causing mass panic, oxygen deprivation, and unconsciousness. Officials declared a "mass casualty event" mid-performance, and while Scott paused his set several times to look at the crowd and request security assistance for fans, the concert continued for more than 30 minutes before finally halting. The crush tragically resulted in 10 fatalities from compressive asphyxiation and hundreds of injuries.
