Hulk headlined the inaugural WrestleMania event in 1985, where he joined forces with Mr. T in a tag-team match against 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper and 'Mr. Wonderful' Paul Orndorff.

Hogan realised at that point that he "would go beyond wrestling" and that the ring was just "a stepping stone (for) the rest of his career)".

The icon made $1 million for his WrestleMania I appearance and explained how other wrestlers were desperate to go against him from that moment on because they would receive a hefty payday.
