Osman’s debut novel, The Thursday Murder Club, was published in 2020 and became an instant bestseller.

The crime caper, centred on four retirees solving murders in a retirement village, broke UK sales records for a debut crime novel.

It topped charts for weeks and was followed by multiple sequels, turning Osman into one of Britain’s biggest publishing exports almost overnight.

And soon it was to become a movie starring Dame Helen Mirren (pictured).
