A Sussex childhood and rock star brother

Richard Osman was born on November 28, 1970, in Billericay, Essex, but grew up in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, after his parents separated when he was young.

He has spoken in interviews about being raised primarily by his mother, Brenda, alongside his older brother, Suede guitarist Mat Osman (pictured far right) .

His father left the family when Osman was nine, something he has described as formative in shaping his perspective on family life.

He later studied Politics and Sociology at Trinity College, Cambridge, where his interest in entertainment and comedy began to flourish.
