Early life

Paul was born in 1941 in New Jersey to Hungarian-Jewish parents.

He met Art Garfunkel when they were both 11 years old as they performed in a school production of Alice in Wonderland.

The pair idolised the pop-country duo The Everly Brothers and began singing together at the age of 13 with Paul writing his first single The Girl for Me.
