Inspirations
Before Jaws found its way onto the silver screen, the story had originated on the page
The flick was an adaptation of Peter Benchley’s 1974 novel of the same name, which itself was inspired by a number of shark attacks that took place off the coast of New Jersey in 1916.
While the movie would end up using the book's name, other titles considered included The Silence of the Deep, Leviathan Rising and The Stillness in the Water.
