Lessons in ‘shut up’
Lindsay Lohan taught Jamie Lee Curtis how teenage Anna would say “shut up” in her tone - fast, sarcastic, teen‑specific.
Curtis later joked that those bite‑sized lessons helped her nail the timing and attitude of Anna’s voice-swapped mother, Tess.
Curtis explained: “There’s a way she says shut up that I couldn’t get. She had to give me a ‘shut up’ tutorial because it’s a very specific way.”
Reflecting on Freaky Friday, Curtis - who was raising her 16-year-old daughter Annie Guest at the time - said that making the film helped her understand her teen child’s perspective more.
The Halloween actress said: “I think I probably have a judgmental b**** badge that I put on because I can be harsh, and I think that walking a mile in some very uncomfortable teenage shoes gave me the opportunity to see what it’s like on the other side.”
