The 2003 movie was adapted from Mary Rodgers’s 1972 book Freaky Friday.
Producer Andrew Gunn pitched the remake to Disney, and after The Princess Diaries proved such films could succeed, screenwriters Heather Hach and Leslie Dixon reimagined it for a new generation.
