Initially, Anna Coleman was conceived as a goth teen, dressing in black and brooding.

Lindsay Lohan insisted on a change, auditioning in khakis and a collared Abercrombie top, and the character was rewritten to be relatable and bright.

Lohan later said the goth version was “nothing anyone could relate to”.
