Sequel and reboots

The success of the 2005 movie led to a follow-up.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer arrived in 2007 with the same cast and a shinier villain. But weak reception and franchise fatigue led Fox to abandon plans for a third film.

In 2015, a darker reboot - which starred Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell - released and flopped, and fans are now waiting to see how Marvel Studios handles its own upcoming reboot with The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
