Christopher Reeve
Christopher Reeve redefined Superman for the big screen, and has become the gold standard for every live-action Man of Steel since.
The actor portrayed the DC hero in four Superman films between 1978 and 1987, starting with director Richard Donner’s iconic Superman: The Movie.
His charismatic dual role as both Clark Kent and Superman remains one of the most celebrated performances in comic book history.
Reeve later said: “What makes Superman a hero is not that he has power, but that he has the wisdom and the maturity to use the power wisely.”
