Licensed pilot

Angelina Jolie is a licensed pilot who began flying in 2004 to impress her son Maddox, who was fascinated by airplanes.

The actress earned her private pilot's license in December 2004 and later added helicopter qualifications.

Jolie has used her aviation skills for humanitarian efforts, including transporting aid to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and visiting a refugee camp in Tanzania in 2012.

Jolie reflected: "When my son Maddox was little, he was obsessed with airplanes and because of him I wanted to learn to fly. I wanted him to be proud of his mother."
