Matt Damon
Matt Damon has admitted his biggest blunder was turning down ‘Avatar’.
Director James Cameron had offered the 54-year-old actor the role of Jake Sully alongside 10 per cent of the movie’s box office earnings, though ’The Odyssey’ star rejected it - a decision Damon later admitted was “the dumbest thing an actor ever did in the history of acting”.
He shared: “I’ve left more money on the table than any actor.
“He works so infrequently … I realised in having to say no that I was probably passing on the chance to ever work with him. So that sucked and that’s still brutal. But my kids are all eating. I’m doing ok.”
Had Damon signed on to ‘Avatar’, he would have made roughly $200 million, and his rejection of the part ultimately allowed Sam Worthington to play Jake Sully - though the actor wasn’t offered the lucrative deal.
