Leonardo DiCaprio
One of Leonardo DiCaprio’s biggest regrets is turning down the starring role in ‘Boogie Nights’.
The 50-year-old actor was offered the part of Eddie Adams before Mark Wahlberg signed on, though rejected it because he felt director Paul Thomas Anderson was too inexperienced at the time and wanted to appear in ‘Titanic’ instead.
DiCaprio recounted: “‘Boogie Nights’ is a movie I loved and I wish I would’ve done.” While he wishes he could have made ‘Boogie Nights’, DiCaprio is still glad he starred in ‘Titanic’, as the 1997 blockbuster had given him the successful career he has today.
When asked if he would sacrifice ‘Titanic’ for ‘Boogie Nights’ if he had his time again, DiCaprio said: “I’m not saying I would have. But it would have been a different direction, career-wise.
“I think they’re both great and wish I could have done them both. The truth is, if I’d not done ‘Titanic’, I wouldn’t be able to do the types of movies or have the career I have now, for sure. “But it would have been interesting to see if I had gone the other way.”
As a result of DiCaprio’s rejection of ‘Boogie Nights’, it allowed Mark Wahlberg to star as Eddie Adams and break into Hollywood.
