Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton

One of Hollywood's most iconic love affairs, Taylor and Burton fell for each other on the set of 'Cleopatra' in 1962 as the romance was confirmed to the world by paparazzi shots of the duo on a yacht.

Their first marriage lasted from 1964 until 1974 and involved a jet-set lifestyle and lavish spending.

They married again in 1975 but their second union lasted for less than a year.

Taylor, who was married eight times, later said: "All the men after Richard were really just company."
