Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti

The Italian film icon married film producer Ponti - who was 22 years older than her - for the first time in Mexico in 1957.

The union was annulled in 1962 as the couple sought to escape bigamy charges as Ponti hadn't legally divorced his first wife Giuliana.

They married again in 1966 and remained together until Ponti's death aged 94 in 2007.
