Batman
While superhero movies existed long before 'Batman', the 1989 flick was arguably the first film to bring the genre to the masses and turned it into the cinematic juggernaut we all know today.
Made on a $35 million budget, the picture – which starred Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader and Jack Nicholson as the Joker – raked in $411.6 million.
Although he was happy to see the movie do so well, Michael initially had his doubts and admitted that he felt director Tim Burton – who he had worked with on 'Beetlejuice' - made quite the "ballsy move" in casting him as the Dark Knight.
He recalled: "When they said, 'We're thinking of doing Batman,' I said, 'Wait, you're thinking of making a movie about Batman?'
"The fact that Tim said, 'That guy, I want that guy', why people even cared one way or another that much is still baffling. But that was a ballsy move on his part."
