‘Rain Man’ wasn’t the only Tom Cruise movie to dazzle at the box office in the 80s!

The much-loved ‘Top Gun’ was a massive hit, bringing in $357 million against a budget of $15 million upon its release in 1986.

As a result of its success, Paramount were keen to get a sequel in the works as soon as possible, but Cruise was determined to hold back on a follow-up feature until the “right” story presented itself and technology had advanced enough to shoot better action sequences.

36 years later, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ would be released to the delight of fans.
