Keeping it clean

In an effort to avoid being slapped with an R rating, director M. Night Shyamalan chose to cut a particularly gory scene.

Haley Joel Osment recalled shooting a sequence where he he looked out of a hospital window to "see an entire wing with horribly disfigured and mutilated people standing in each of the dozens of windows".

The actor believed that the director made the correct decision to remove the scene.
