Recycled script
'Speed' is well-known for its exciting plot about a bus that can't go underneath 50 miles-an-hour because a bomb was strapped on-board, but the story isn’t unique to the movie.
In the late '80s, Graham Yost asked his father if there were any films he could think of that never reached their full potential. Among his long list of failed pictures was Andrey Konchalovskiy's 'Runaway Train' from 1985, in which the brakes of the vehicle froze solid.
Graham liked the sound of the story, and lifted the basic premise into a script that would ultimately become 'Speed'.
