Her first ever audition was for Maleficent but she lost out to Elle Fanning

Back in 2014, Anya auditioned for the role of Aurora in ‘Maleficent’ which she lost out to Elle Fanning. Angelina Jolie - who took on the title role in the 'Sleeping Beauty' prequel as well as co-producing it - wanted to mimic the original film so chose Elle Fanning because of her looks.

She said: "It was my first experience of rejection, like true rejection. And it was Disney which, for me, was like, 'Oh my god,' even though I look nothing like [Angelina Jolie]. I definitely cried for a very long time after that happened."
