She felt 'alienated' when she moved to London
The ‘Split’ actress, who grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina, moved to London when she was six-years old. Anya, who spoke Spanish most of her life, was so traumatised by the move that she refused to learn English in hopes that her family would move back. But her ploy didn’t work and she was sent to a school in Chelsea.
She said: "I had just started to read in Spanish and when we got to England I was like, I don’t speak this language, I can’t read, I can’t keep up in school… I felt very alienated. It definitely left me with the feeling of being an outsider."
