Near-fatal car accident
George Lucas had a huge passion for car racing, and wanted to be a racing driver when he grew up. If not for a near-fatal car accident, Lucas may have never become a filmmaker. As a teen, he raced on local circuits and just days before he was supposed to graduate high school, he was involved in a horrific accident that nearly took his life. The collision was so violent that it snapped Lucas’ seatbelt and he flew out of the car. After the accident he gave up that dream to pursue directing instead.
