Scene difficulty

One of the most harrowing scenes in the entire series is when Martin Riggs tries to take his life while watching ‘Looney Tunes’ cartoons.

Because of the nature of the scene, Mel Gibson struggling to film it, and it took the actor weeks of attempts before he was able to get through it.

Richard Donner recalled: “The camera operator was sitting on the dolly, crying his eyes out. The camera’s shaking and I’m crying too. And then Mel started hitting himself on the head with the gun. I was worried about him, but I let him go.”
