When it hit theatres in 1987, ‘RoboCop’ proved to be a major success.
The movie battled ‘Jaws: The Revenge’ and a reissue of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarves’ at its opening weekend, and managed to come on top - earning $8 million in the U.S.
By the time it left theatres, the flick had made $53.4 million on a $13.7 million budget.
The picture also impressed at the Oscars and won three statues - those being Best Sound Mixing, Best Film Editing and the Special Achievement Academy Award.
