The Predator's heat vision is one of his defining characteristics, though the actual techniques used to achieve the desired effect isn’t particularly impressible.

Initially, the team were keen to use a proper heat vision camera to shoot the scenes, but found the equipment was too unwieldy in the jungle.

So, instead, John McTiernan just took normal footage, and simply turned it into a negative image in post-production.
