The movie took $12 million during its opening weekend in June 1987 and was number one at the US box office.

Predator's theatrical run ended with over $98 million banked worldwide.

As well as financial success, 'Predator' saw a lot of recognition from within the industry. The picture was nominated for an Academy Award, as well as four Saturn Awards – of which it left the ceremony with one statue for Best Music.
