Godzilla Minus One

While Toho had continued to make movies about the beast independently of Hollywood, ‘Godzilla Minus One’ was the first movie the studio had produced that made their American counterparts sit up and take notice in decades.

In the 2023 picture, Japan is threatened with complete destruction from the titan after barely recovering from the Second World War.

Godzilla truly became the King of Monsters with this movie, as it was recently awarded an Academy Award for best visual effects - the first Oscar the franchise had ever seen.
