Horrified audiences

Before its worldwide release, ‘Alien’ was test screened for 20th Century Fox representatives, though none were particularly impressed due to its poor sound quality.

However, a second screening for a general audience went down a lot better, with some “screaming” and sprinting for the door once the credits rolled.

Terry Rawlings, one of the movie’s editors, said: "It was the most incredible preview I've ever been in. I mean, people were screaming and running out of the theater”.
