Sting as the hero?

Lots of names were thrown into the ring for the role of Kyle Reese.

The Police bassist Sting was first offered the part, though turned it down as he was contractually obliged to appear in 'Dune'.

Matt Dillon, Kurt Russell, Tommy Lee Jones, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Michael O’Keefe, Christopher Reeve, Mel Gibson and even Bruce Springsteen were also considered, though none were successful in getting the role.

Eventually, Michael Biehn impressed Cameron and the producers enough to land the part, and, in his own words, "the rest is kind of history".
