Arnold Schwarzenegger wanted to be Kyle Reese

Originally, Arnold Schwarzenegger was keen to play time travelling resistance fighter Kyle Reese, but James Cameron couldn't see him in the role.

During a lunch together, the director instead offered Arnold the role of the main villain, The Terminator.

However, the actor was hesitant to accept, given that he enjoyed playing the good guy in his previous projects.

Eventually, Arnold agreed, and as soon as he did, he took on the part that would go on to define the rest of his career.
