Haley Joel Osment played humanoid child robot David in 2001 sci-fi film 'A.I. Artificial Intelligence'.

Joel, who was 13 when he was cast, was Spielberg's only choice for the part after he saw him in M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘The Sixth Sense’.

Hayley recalls how Steven earned the trust of him and his parents at a time when his newfound fame was causing him some issues.

He said: “My parents, agent, and I increasingly had to work to avoid being attached to the wrong kinds of movies. It was a case of working with people you could trust. Steven made it easy for us. We immediately had the sense that I was in the right hands and doing the right kind of work."
