Sir Ben Kingsley
Sir Ben Kingsley, 80, played Papa Georges in Martin Scorsese’s 3D film ‘Hugo’, which revolves around a young orphan named Hugo Hugo Cabret (Asa Butterfield) living in 1930s Paris who fixes clocks at Gare Montparnasse railway station after his Uncle Claude, his guardian, goes missing.
Kingsley played toy store owner Georges Méliès and he believes the secret to his success as a filmmaker is that he treats the cast as equals as has no secrets to his trade.
Ben said: "He’s a very generous man; there isn’t a mean bone in his body. He doesn’t work in secret. There is no such thing as a secret recipe with Martin. The ensemble is in on the same joke; we’re all on the same page. There is something we all need to understand, even if it can’t be put into words. It could be how people are speaking in a film we’re watching, or the shadows or the pace of the action. He wants to share all these magic ingredients that go into his filmmaking process.”
