The movie explores the lives of two 17th century Jesuit priests who travel to Portugal to investigate the whereabouts of their mentor.

Speaking to Deadline, Driver explained that Martin’s shooting style is anything but authoritarian, as he wants the cast to define their characters.

He said: “Your impulse on a Martin Scorsese set is that you want him to tell you what to do. But he wants you to take ownership of your character and space, and the challenge that comes with your ideas.”
