'Seinfeld' is one of the longest-running and successful sitcoms of all time, but it wasn't initially going to be a TV series.

The concept for a Jerry Seinfeld-led sketch show started as a one-off 90-minute special known as 'Stand Up' that was meant to run on one evening during Saturday Night Live's slot, but proved to be so popular, that it was decided 'Seinfeld' would become a series.
