Yoda was left out
After appearing in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’, Yoda became a fan-favorite character, making the decision to initially exclude him from ‘Episode VI' baffling.
Initially, the movie would have started after Luke Skywalker had completed his training, but director Richard Marquand insisted that the Jedi Master needed to be included to ensure audiences didn’t feel cheated.
George Lucas agreed, and also decided including Yoda would be best for the story, as it would allow a trustworthy character to confirm that Darth Vader was indeed Luke’s father.
