10) Spider-Man 3
At number 10 is ‘Spider-Man 3’
With a respectable score of 6.3 out of 10 on IMDb, the 2007 movie sees Peter Parker grapple with a friend-turned-enemy, whilst he unwittingly creates a sinister threat in Venom.
The picture was unfortunately oversaturated with convoluted plot points and characters who do not get enough development, leading to the film feeling bloated and narratively unsatisfying.
Director Sam Raimi has since admitted he regrets making the movie, and wishes he could have made an entirely different picture without three villains; Venom, Sandman and New Goblin.
In an interview post-‘Spider-Man 3’, he said: “It’s a movie that just didn’t work very well. I tried to make it work, but I didn’t really believe in all the characters, so that couldn’t be hidden from people who loved Spider-Man. If the director doesn’t love something, it’s wrong of them to make it when so many other people love it. I think [raising the stakes after ‘Spider-Man 2’] was the thinking going into it, and I think that’s what doomed us. I should’ve just stuck with the characters and the relationships and progressed them to the next step and not tried to top the bar.”
