Meryl Streep, 74, has earned an incredible 21 Academy Award nominations during her career, winning on three occasions.
In 1979, Streep took home her first golden statuette for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 29 for her portrayal of Joanna in the 1979 film ‘Kramer vs. Kramer’. Directed by Robert Benton, the film revolves around the life of Joanna, a woman who tells her husband Ted (Dustin Hoffman) that she is leaving him and the impact their divorce has on their young son and the pair's evolving view of parenting.
In 1983, Streep received the Oscar for Best Actress for her incredible performance as Sophie Zawistowska in heart-breaking drama ‘Sophie’s Choice’.
In 2012, Streep won the Best Actress Oscar again for her portrayal of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in ‘The Iron Lady’.
