Elvis the Pelvis
As the 1950s rolled on, Elvis had become a teen idol known as "Elvis the Pelvis" in light of his thrusting dance moves and hits such as 'Blue Suede Shoes and 'Hound Dog'. Elvis became famous for his voice and his iconic dance moves where he shook his legs back and forth. However, the dance expanded from his first gig where he was so nervous he had to stand back from the mic and shook his legs out to steady himself. His bandmate recalled: "During the instrumental parts, he would back off from the mike and be playing and shaking, and the crowd would just go wild.”
