Jay-Z and Beyoncé

The 42-year-old R'n'B superstar married rap icon Jay-Z, 54, in 2008 and they have 11-year-old daughter Blue Ivy and six-year-old twins Rumi and Sir together.

Beyoncé insists it is very important of for both partners to maintain their own identity within the relationship to remain happy and fulfilled.

She told GQ: “I was independent before I met my husband, and we have such a natural chemistry and a genuine relationship, and it’s based on the things that relationships are supposed to be based on. I’ve seen, growing up, when a woman or a man in a relationship doesn’t feel confident, they feel a bit trapped. Your self-worth is determined by you. You don’t have to depend on someone telling you who you are.”
