He was a self-confessed 'anorak'

Gambon loved to take to the skies as a qualified pilot and was an avid car collector.

He was honored by British motoring series 'Top Gear', with the presenters naming a part of the show's test track ‘Gambon’s Corner’ in homage to the three-time Olivier Award winner.

Admitting he was an anorak who obsessed over things, he said: "I'm an anorak. I've always been an obsessive collector of things. Richard Briers collects stamps. I collect cars, which are much more expensive, and much more difficult to store."
